New Zealand consistently ranks among the world's safest, most innovative, and most welcoming nations for international students. Here's why thousands of Indian students choose NZ every year.

🏆

World-Class Universities

All 8 New Zealand universities are ranked in the QS World University Rankings. The University of Auckland holds a place in the global top 70 — making NZ degrees globally respected and recognised by employers worldwide.

🤝

Safe & Welcoming Culture

New Zealand is consistently ranked among the world's safest countries. The Kiwi culture is known for its warmth and inclusivity — Indian students find a strong community with diverse cultural celebrations like Diwali being officially recognised.

💼

Generous Work Rights

Work 20 hours per week during semester and full-time during holidays. After graduation, the Post-Study Work Visa allows you to stay and work in NZ for up to 3 years — gaining international experience that boosts your career and PR prospects.

📚

Practical, Industry-Linked Education

NZ universities emphasise real-world learning through industry placements, research projects, and internships. Courses are designed with employer input — meaning what you learn is directly applicable to your career from day one.

💰

Competitive Fees vs UK & USA

Compared to the UK, USA, or Canada, NZ offers quality degrees at considerably lower tuition costs. With scholarships, living cost assistance, and part-time earnings, many students find NZ far more affordable than expected.

🌿

Breathtaking Quality of Life

From Milford Sound to Bay of Islands, New Zealand offers a lifestyle that balances study with adventure. Clean air, low population density, and world-famous outdoor activities make it one of the best places on earth to live and study.

Select a program from an NZQA-approved institution. We help you match courses to your academic background, career goals, and budget — ensuring the best fit before you apply.

2

Once your application is accepted, you'll receive a formal Offer of Place. This is a mandatory document for your visa application. G2H handles all university applications on your behalf.

3

Compile Your Documents

Key documents include: valid passport, Offer of Place, financial proof (bank statements / FDs / loan letter), English test scores (IELTS/PTE), academic transcripts, SOP, and health insurance. Our team checks every document for accuracy.

Frequently Asked Questions — Study in New Zealand

Yes. New Zealand has several PR pathways for international students. The Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) and the NZ Green List are the most common routes. Jobs like registered nursing, engineering, IT, and teaching are on the Green List — meaning you can apply for residency directly without a job offer in some cases. After graduation, most students work on a post-study visa and then transition to skilled residency. Your G2H counsellor can advise on the most current requirements.

Processing times vary, but typically range from 4 to 8 weeks once all documents are submitted correctly. Delays can occur if medical results or background checks take longer. We strongly recommend applying at least 3 months before your intended travel date. G2H prepares your application to minimise the chance of delays or requests for additional information.

IELTS requirements vary by course: Nursing and health courses typically require 6.5–7.0 overall (no band below 6.5). Engineering and IT courses generally require 6.0–6.5. Business and management may accept 6.0 overall. PTE is also accepted at equivalent scores. Some universities offer conditional admission with English pathway programs if your score is slightly below the requirement. Contact us to check the exact requirement for your chosen course.

New Zealand's minimum wage is NZD 22.70 per hour (as of 2024). Working 20 hours per week during semester, you can earn approximately NZD 1,800 – 2,000 per month before tax — enough to cover most of your living expenses. During holidays you can work unlimited hours. Many students in healthcare, hospitality, and retail earn above minimum wage with experience.

Both countries are excellent choices. New Zealand offers a smaller, more community-oriented environment with high quality of life and generally easier social integration. Australia has a larger Indian community, higher average salaries, and more university options. New Zealand tends to be slightly more affordable in terms of fees and living costs. For nursing, environmental science, and agriculture in particular, NZ is exceptionally strong. Guide to Heights counsellors can compare both destinations against your specific course and career goals to help you make the best decision.

The Post-Study Work Visa (PSWV) allows international graduates to remain in New Zealand and work for any employer after graduation. The visa duration depends on your qualification level and study location: Bachelor's degree or higher (studied in Auckland): 1–3 years. Qualifications studied in regional NZ: up to 3 years. This visa is your bridge to skilled employment and eventually PR. It is an open work visa, meaning you can work in any job, for any company.
